Where do I get the iPhone app?

It isn’t on the App Store yet — it’s in final preparation for review. Until it ships, the web explorer has the same colleges, the same federal data, and the same comparisons, with nothing to install. Check back here for the App Store link.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Delete Account. That removes your account and the data attached to it. It cannot be undone. Deleting the app itself removes everything stored on your device, including your GPA and test scores.

Where does the data come from?

Admissions, cost and outcomes figures come from IPEDS, the US Department of Education’s College Scorecard, and the Census Bureau’s Post-Secondary Employment Outcomes programme — all US federal, public-domain sources. Campus photographs from Wikimedia Commons are used under their Creative Commons licences and credited in the app.

A number looks wrong. What now?

Tell us and we’ll check it. Federal data is reported on a lag, often a year or more, and colleges restate figures. Always confirm anything that matters — deadlines, costs, testing policy — directly with the college.

Do the match scores predict whether I’ll get in?

No. They are an informational aid computed from published data, not a prediction and not advice. Talk to your school counsellor and the admissions office.

Why do I need to give a phone number?

It’s how you sign in, so your saved colleges follow you between sessions and devices. We use it for nothing else.

Is there a minimum age?

Cohort is for students aged 13 and over. The app doesn’t ask your age or check it, so that’s a condition of use rather than something we verify. If you think someone under 13 has an account, email us and we’ll remove it.

Does the website need an account?

Not to browse. Search, the map, compare and every college page work with no sign-in at all.

There is an optional sign-in, by phone number and a one-time code, the same one the app uses. It does two things: it puts your saved colleges on the same account, so a phone and a laptop show the same list, and it asks for your high school, which names your In State and Community tiers and turns Recommended into the app’s list — colleges where students from your school actually went. Your GPA, test scores and preferences are never uploaded — those stay in the browser you typed them into, the same way the app keeps them on your phone.
